Notes on building this — what it does, what it does not, and why. Everything else written around the editor is linked below.
This is where I write about the editor itself rather than about diagrams: why it exists, how it was pulled out of a desktop app I built for my own notes, and what changed or broke along the way. It is a small project in alpha, and the posts say so, including the parts that do not work yet.
The biggest of those today: there is no account and no way to share a board, so every diagram lives only in the browser it was drawn in. Saving to a server comes first on the roadmap, then sharing by link, then editing together. Until then, export anything you would mind losing.
A post gets written when there is a decision worth explaining, especially when the answer is no, so the reasoning is public rather than buried in a reply to one person. Shorter news, like what shipped this week, goes to the Facebook page below.
Feedback and news live on Facebook. Report a bug, ask for a feature, or follow what ships next on our Facebook page.
Tell me what's broken — feedback and news on Facebook
The editor is in alpha and I want to hear from the people using it. The Facebook page is where feedback goes and where news comes out.
Why I built another diagram tool
The editor behind diagrams.info was extracted from a desktop app I wrote for myself — including the connector routing I redesigned four times.
